AITP Long Island Chapter Wins “Chapter Outstanding Performance Award” for 2014

COPA winners are recognized for their effectiveness within the IT industry and their community

Hicksville, N.Y. – June 24, 2015 – The Long Island Chapter of the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) today announced that it has been awarded the Chapter Outstanding Performance Award (COPA) for 2014 by the national Association of Information Technology Professionals.

The annual COPA award recognizes AITP chapters for success as well-rounded, effective groups within the IT industry, their local community and the national AITP organization. It is an acknowledgement of the dedication and work it takes by chapter leadership and members to successfully achieve their goals and overall mission.

The AITP Long Island Chapter is one of the largest chapters in the country, with over 200 members, and has been in existence for over 60 years since being established in 1954.

“We are honored to receive the 2014 Chapter Outstanding Performance Award from our parent association, the Association of Information Technology Professionals,” said Barbara Viola, president, AITP Long Island Chapter, and President of the national AITP association. “This is a significant recognition of the hard work that is put into the operation and management of the AITP Long Island Chapter by our committee members, general membership and the chapter Board of Directors.”

“The AITP Long Island Chapter earned the 2014 COPA award as a result of its many information technology industry activities throughout the year,” said John Sena, awards chair and member of the AITP LI Board of Directors. “We are a very active chapter with many networking and educational events designed to help our membership learn about the latest trends in information technology. Some of the activities that qualified the chapter for the 2014 COPA award include our regular chapter meetings, such as our annual CIO Panel in May, service within the national AITP organization, and local business community outreach.”
